Ed Sheeran continues to dominate the UK charts, and this week reaches a total of 680 weeks on the Singles chart. This now puts him ahead of Elton John, to become the second most successful UK Male artist of all time. Only Cliff Richard (1,177 weeks) stands ahead of him.
He is also currently Number 7 on the list of artists who have spent the longest on the UK Singles chart, and should overtake Michael Jackson's total of 688 weeks shortly to move in to 6th place.
It has taken him less than six years to achieve this total compared with Jackson (42 1/2 years) and Elton (46 years).
He is also just 60 weeks off the Top 5 - Madonna is currently 5th on 740 weeks - so it is possible he could reach that position soon as well.
Well done to Ed, here is his most successful song, which accounts for 91 of those 680 weeks.
This is his Number 1 hit from 2014, "Thinking Out Loud".
