WEEK ENDING 1st JULY 2017

No surprise that the Artists for Grenfell charity cover of Simon & Garfunkels' "Bridge Over Troubled Water" storms to the top this week, selling 170,000 copies in just two days.

It is the second time in just 18 months that the track has been covered by a charity ensemble and taken all the way to Number One - Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir's "Bridge Over You", a mash up of the Simon & Garfunkel classic with Coldplay's "Fix You", hit Number 1 on Christmas day 2015.

No need to say anything else, just well done to Simon Cowell & all the artists for getting involved in such short notice.  Here's the video.

After 6 weeks at Number 1, "Despacito" drops to this week's Number 2, while the second highest new entry comes in at Number 3, and gives DJ Khaled his second successive Top 3 hit after his recent collaboration, "I'm The One" hit the top spot.

On this track he is aided by Rihanna, who claims her 22nd UK Top 3 hit.  It also features hip hop artist Bryson Tiller, giving him his first UK Top 10 success.

This is "Wild Thoughts".

Spending a third week at Number 4 is Liam & Quavo with "Strip That Down", while down 2 to 5 is French Montana & Swae Lee with "Unforgettable".

At Number 6 for a third week is Jonas Blue featuring William Singe with "Mama", while last week's Number 2, "One Last Time" from Ariana Grande drops five places to 7 this week.

Last week's highest new entry, "2U" from David Guetta & Justin Bieber drops from 5 to 8 this week, while Justin Bieber's third entry in the 10, "I'm The One", drops two to Number 9.

Up 3 places to 10 this week, giving them their 11th Top 10 hit, is Little Mix (featuring Stormzy) with "Power".

New at 21 this week is yet another track from Calvin Harris, this time featuring Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean, but no video yet so we move on to the track at Number 33 , which is this week's highest climber.

Moving up 20 places from last week's 53 is Selena Gomez with "Bad Liar".

Back up seven places to 44 this week is US actress/singer Hailee Steinfeld with the follow up to her massive debut hit, "Starving".

This is "Most Girls".

Up 15 places to 48 this week is Dutch music producer Martin Garrix featuring South African/Australian singer Troye Sivan.

This is "There For You".

Moving back up 10 places to 57 this week, is John Gibbons.

This is his version of the Michael Jackson classic, PYT (Pretty Young Thing)".

Ausual, I finish with tracks from the US & UK Number 1 albums.  In the UK, congratulations go out to Brighton's Mike Kerr & Ben Thatcher AKA Royal Blood, who claim their second successive UK chart topper with "How Did We Get So Dark".

From the album, this is the single "Lights Out".

In the US, Katy Perry has her third chart topper with "Witness".

From the album, here is the first single (featuring Skip Marley), "Chained To The Rhythm".
