This week Coldplay become just the 18th artists in UK chart history to pass 500 weeks on the UK Singles Chart (Top 75), and just the second group (after the Shadows). They are now the sixth most successful UK act ever, based on total weeks on chart behind Cliff Richard, Ed Sheeran, The Shadows, Elton John & Calvin Harris.
First hitting the chart in March 2000 when "Shiver" just made the Top 40, the band have now amassed 30 hit singles, with 18 of then reaching the Top 10 (including 9 in a row from 2000 to 2008). Of these 18, 2 have gone all the way to Number 1 - "Viva La Vida" in 2008 and "Paradise" in 2012.
