WEEK ENDING 29th JULY 2017

Well the new chart rules did for "Despacito", as after nine non-consecutive weeks at the top, it is disposed by DJ Khaled, Rihanna & Bryson Tiller with "Wild Thoughts".  It gives Rihanna her 9th UK Number One, DJ Khaled his second of the year and Bryson Tiller his maiden one.

So here is that new Number 1 track, this is "Wild Thoughts".

"Despacito" drops to Number 2, while static at 3 for a third week is French Montana & Swae Lee with "Unforgettable.

Also static at 4 is "Feels" from Calvin Harris, Katy Perry, Pharrell & Big Sean, and Calvin Harris this week becomes the 10th most successful artist in UK chart history.  Well done to him.

Another non-mover at 5 is Jonas Blue featuring William Singe with "Mama", while moving back up one place to 6 is Liam Payne & Quavo with "Strip That Down".

Also up one place to 7 is "Your Song" from Rita Ora, while up two places to 8 is Little Mix with "Power".

Static at 9 is Maggie Lindemann with "Pretty Girl", while back into the Top 10, moving up one place to 10 is Guetta & Bieber with "2U".

Down we go to Number 26 now, where we find the highest new entry of the week, and it comes from a band who have been away from the Top 40 for nearly 3 years.

The Script had their first hit way back in 2008 with "We Cry", but their last hit was at the end of 2014 when "No Good In Goodbye" peaked at Number 26.

So welcome back to Danny and the boys - we've missed you!

This is new single, "Rain".

Just one place lower is this week's highest climber, and it continues the resurgence of Demi Lovato, as she claims her third Top 40 hit of the year.

Up 42 places to Number 27, here is Demi with "Sorry Not Sorry".

Another new entry at 33 comes from Selena Gomez.

Featuring guest vocals from Gucci Mane, this is "Fetish".

Another big climber moves up 39 places from last week's Number 75.

With her sixth Top 40 hits in six attempts, this is Dua Lipa with "New Rules".

Last week's joint highest climber makes another big climb this week, up 17 places to Number 38.

Welcome to the Top 40 for the first time, this is Yungen with "Bestie".

Ausual, I finish with tracks from the US & UK Number 1 albums.  In the UK, congratulations are in order for Brad, James, Connor & Tristan AKA the Vamps as their 3rd album "Night & Day" becomes their first UK Number One.

Featuring Norwegian DJ, Matoma, this is the first single released from the album, "All Night".

In the US, Jay-Z claims an impressive 11th consecutive solo Number 1 album,  a run that began way back in 1998,  He has also had 3 Number 1 albums in collaboration with other artists.  Only the Beatles have had more US Number One albums (19).

From the album, "4:44", this is the "Story Of OJ".
