WEEK ENDING 10th MARCH 2018

Is he on course for another extended run at the top? - Drake claims the Number One spot for a sixth straight week again outselling and outstreaming allcomers by a sizeable margin.  If he can make it seven weeks next week, he will become just the sixth artist in UK chart history to have two records spend more than seven consecutive weeks at the top.  The other 5? - Frankie Laine, Elvis Presley, the Everly Brothers, the Beatles & John Travolta/Olivia Newton-John. (Technically Paul MCartney has had 3, as "Mull Of Kintyre" by Wings spent 9 weeks at the top as well).

So here is the (possibly) record equalling track.

This is "God's Plan".

Stuck at 2 for a fourth successive week is Rudimental, Jess Glynne & Macklemore with "These Days", while after spending a month at Number 4, Dua Lipa spends a second week at Number 3 this week.

This week's highest new entry is the follow up to the massive transatlantic Number One "Rockstar".

Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, this is Post Malone with "Psycho".

Up four places to 5 this week is Marshmello & Anne-Marie with "Friends".  It gives Anne-Marie he first Top 5 hit as a credited artist (she was uncredited on the chart listing of Clean Bandit's "Rockabye"), while down two to 6 is Portugal. The Man with "Feel It Still".

Also down two places to seven, taken from the soundtrack of the "Black Panther" movie, is "All The Stars" from Kendrick Lamar & SZA, and down two to 8 is the track from STILL the top selling album in the UK, "This Is Me" from Keala Settle.

The third film song in the Top 10 drops one place to 9 - "For You (Fifty Shades Freed)", by Liam Payne & Rita Ora, while up 12 place to Number 10, benefitting from his Brits appearance, Justin Timberlake claims his 19th UK Top 10 solo hit.

Featuring country superstar Chris Stapleton, this is "Say Something".

Back after nearly two years away for the chart is Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer, who are new at Number 22 this week with their 10th UK hit single.

This is "Want You Back".

Back in the chart at Number 29, is the new "official" single from Ed Sheeran's "Divide" album.

A track which initially peaked at Number 8 as an album track back in March, this is "Supermarket Flowers".

Up 15 places to Number 30, and this week's highest climber, it's a welcome back to the Top 30 for George Ezra after nearly three years away.

From his imminent second album, "Waiting At Tamara's", here is George with "Paradise".

Another new entry comes in at 32 and is the latest hot from DJ Bruce Fielder (AKA Sigala).

Featuring the immense voice of Paloma Faith, this is "Lullaby".

A new name to the Top 40 enters the chart at Number 34.

From Hardy Caprio, this is "Rapper".

Another artist whose sales have been boosted by his Brits appearance is Stormzy, as his recent collaboration with MNEK climbs back into the Top 40.

Up 13 places to Number 35, this is "Blinded By Your Grace - Pt 2".

Just missing out on a Top 40 place this week, debuting at Number 41, is a collaboration from three of the hottest British female singers of the moment.

From Raye, Mabel & Stefflon Don, this is "Cigarette".

Still in the Top 50 this week, down seven places to Number 48, is Ed Sheeran's "Shape Of You", which becomes just the ninth single ever to spend 60 weeks in the UK Top 75.  If it stays in the US Hot 100 next Tuesday, it will become the first record in chart history to spend 60 consecutive weeks on both charts.

Back in the chart at Number 50 is Kylie Minogue with her latest track, "Dancing".

Originally peaking at Number 47 a couple of weeks ago, hopefully it can do better this time.

Could it become her 51st Top 40 hit?  This is "Dancing".

As usual I finish off with tracks from the US & UK Number 1 albums.  In the UK, still there for an eighth week in a row, with only the Beatles, Ed Sheeran and Adele having more consecutive weeks at the top this century, the Number 1 album is the soundtrack to the movie "The Greatest Showman".

From the album, and sung by Keala Settle & the Greatest Showman Ensemble, this is the recent Top 3 hit "This Is Me".

In the US, a different soundtrack album takes the honours for a second week.

From "Black Panther: The Album, Music From And Inspired By", this is "Pray For Me" by the Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar.
