WEEK ENDING 9th SEPTEMBER 2017

No surprise at the top this week as the first new music from Taylor Swift for three years, the single "Look What You Made Me Do", debuts at the Number 1 spot.

She has her first UK Number 1 with her 26th single, only four artists have had more hits before claiming their first Number 1 - Prince (40), Lil' Wayne (36), Stevie Wonder (35) and Justin Bieber (33).

So after having three tracks stall at Number 2, here is Taylor (aided by Right Said Fred) with "Look What You Made Me Do".

With Dua Lipa dropping to Number 2 with "New Rules" and Pink climbing one more place to Number 3, it marks the first time since 18th October 2014 that we have an all female Top 3 - in fact on that date we had an all female Top 4 - At 1 was Meghan Trainor with "All About That Bass", 2 was Jessie J featuring Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj with "Bang Bang", 3 was Nicki Minaj with "Anaconda" and 4 was Taylor Swift with "Shake It Off".  If we look at female solo artists we have to go back to 13th November 201 when Rihanna was at 1 with "Only Girl (In The World)", Cheryl Cole was at 2 with "Promise This" and Alexis Jordan at 3 with "Happiness". (Katy Perry was at 4 with "Firework", as well).

Down one to 4 is "Feels" from Calvin/Pharrell/Katy/Sean, while dropping 3 from last week's debut position of 2 is Justin Bieber & BloodPop with "Friends".

Static at 6 is Rudimental & James Arthur with "Sun Comes Up", while down 2 to 7 is CNCO & Little Mix with "Reggaeton Lento".

Up two places to 8 is "More Than Friends" By James Hype & Kelli-Leigh, and down one to 9 is "Mi Gente" by J Balvin & Willy William.

Propping up this week's Top 10 is Luis, Daddy & Bieber with "Despacito", down 3 places from 7 last week.  However, the track has, this week, equalled the longest run ever at the Top of the US Hot 100 with 16 weeks, equalling the mark set by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men with "One Sweet Day" in 1995/96.

Up 13 places to 23 this week is Macklemore & Skylar Grey.

This is "Glorious".

Also up 13 places, from last week's 37 is Camila Cabello featuring Young Thug.

This is "Havana".

This week's highest climber is a track that first charted three months ago and peaked at Number 40.  Up 29 places to 29 this week, this is Katy Perry & Nicki Minaj with "Swish Swish".

Talking of Ms Minaj, this week she becomes one of the Top 30 artists of all time (based on total weeks on the UK Singles chart) with 438 weeks.

Up 13 places to 53 this week, is mysterious, helmet-wearing DJ Marshmello featuring TExan singer Khalid.

This is "Silence".

This week's second highest new entry comes in at Number 56.  19 year-old Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy (AKA XXXTentation) is an American rapper from Florida, and this is his first UK hit.

A song dedicated to a friend who committed suicide, this is "Jocelyn Flores".

Up 14 places to 57 this week, is the collaboration between Snakehips, Anne-Marie & Joey Bada$$.

This is "Either Way".

Also up 14 places to Number 60, is the homage to Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor.

This is Mick Konstantin with "There's Only One Conor McGregor".

Ausual, I finish with tracks from the US & UK Number 1 albums.  In the UK, congratulations go to US rock band Queens of the Stone Age, as their seventh studio album, "Villains", becomes their first UK chart topper.

From the album, this is track one, "Feet Don't Fail Me".

In the US, another band celebrate their first Number One.  Brand New, are from Long Island in New York, and released four albums between 2001 & 2009.  After an eight year hiatus, the y released their fifth album, "Science Fiction", which this week debuts at the Top of the US Hot 200 Album chart.

From the album, this is Track One, "Lit Me Up".
